Pefkos main beach

At the center of the calm, recently developed tourist resort of Pefkos or Pefki, situated at 4 km southern to Lindos, lies a beautiful beach of pure sand that is the main attraction of the this old fishermen pamphlet. There are numerous restaurants and bars at the beach front and a number of water sports facilities and sunbathing facilities and amenities. Pefkos main beach remains a quiet and very enjoyable place to spend your vacations under the sand. Access to the beach is through a series of narrow streets from the main road. There is a public bus service from Rhodes every half an hour during the summer.

Anthony Quinn beach

Anthony Quinn beach, is a fantastic natural port on the east coast of Rhodes. Its outstanding natural surroundings where used as the main scenery for the Hollywood epic The Guns of Navarone. The small but popular beach takes its name from the famous Hollywood actor who owns a large property in this area.

The area where the e beach is located is called Ladikò and it is easily accessed from the main road that connects Faliraki with Afandou. It is distant about 16 km from downtown Rhodes and about 1.5 km from Faliraki’s center. Highly recommended!

Tsambika beach

Tsambika is an 800 meters long beach of fine pure sand, gently shelving on the east coast of the island of Rhodes. Distant at about 26 km from the capital, this pure-sand beach has survived from permanent development as most of the land is owned by the Orthodox Church. In fact, at the north end of the beach, on a sharp peak overlooking the beach, there is the church of Panagià Tsambika.

This beach is considered as one of the best beaches on the island. It has crystal clear waters and it’s considered ideal for families with children as it is all sandy and shallow. There are umbrellas and loungers, watersports and a few canteens for sandwiches, ice cream and refreshments.

Tsambika can be reached by public transport but it is better to get there by car or bike as there are a lot of interesting surroundings to explore. Tsambika beach video clip

Aquarium beach

The Aquarium beach, as the name suggests, lies in front of the Aquarium building, at a short distance from the town center. It is a mixed type of beach with large strips of sand. Surrounded by hotels it is the ideal place for long walks down by the sea. It is located exactly on the most northern point of the island. The beach starts from the east side which is the most popular and following the coastline bends to the west. So for most of the times can offer the choice of a windy – usually the west side – or of a calm sea. The water here is very clean but children must not be left unattended, as strong currents are developed around the tip.

The beach is easily accessed with some of parking space in the nearby. Most of the east side is covered with deck chairs and beach umbrellas for rent and it is pretty common to see ladies sunbathing topless. In high season it can be difficult to find chairs for rent here, as the beach is full of hotel guests but you can always take your towels from the and spread them out closer to the water front.

A lifesaver service operates from June to October daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Also there are lifesaving and first aid equipment and staff on duty on the beach. There are sport facilities and facilities for disabled people (ramps, WC).

Elli beach

Elli beach also known as Trambolino beach is located at the northern tip of the island, facing towards the east, very close to the town center with plenty of hotels around. It is about 400 m long and 35 m wide, running in front of the Casino of Rhodes. It confines with the Aquarium beach to the north. The beach type is mixed with some parts of sand and some covered with pebbles and it is very easily accessed with a lot of parking spaces beside it.

Along the beach-front there are a few lounge bars with cushy chairs going all the way down to the water, bars with cold drinks and little restaurants facing the beach. In high season, it can be very difficult to find chairs for rent here, as the beach is full of hotel guests.

Traganou beach

The beach of Traganou is situated is just over 15 km south of the city center of Rhodes, and just a few kilometres from Afandou and Faliraki. Located along the each coast, the beach consists of small light coloured pebbles and is boarded by crystal deep waters. Only a small area of the seaside is organized the rest is left in a natural way. The best place to swim is under the spectacular high rock at the northern end of the beach. There is also a little fish tavern welcoming hungry travellers.

Kalathos beach

The beach of Kalathos is located just under 50 km south-east of Rhodes City and less than 5 km from Lindos. The sandy beach itself is flawless and golden, and the waters are deep clear and clean. Wooden sun beds and bamboo umbrellas are there to use if you wish to hire.

Faliraki 1

Located at about 3 km from the center of Faliraki, along its famous sandy bay, in front of the Esperides Hotel, lies a well organized beach with water sports with all the  relevant equipment. It can be freely accessed through the hotel as there are  numerous paths leading to the beach. On the  beach there are several facilities like  showers, sun beds and sun shades, kiosks, WC’s,  snacks of all nature, children’s playground, ice  cream, pop-corn, candy cotton, variety of candy  and fruit and a First Aid Station.

Ammoudes (Faliraki)

Agathi beach

Agathi beach was until a few years ago one of the hidden treasures of Rhodes. It is located on the east coast, 38 km from Rhodes, at a walking distance from resort of Haraki. To get to the beach you turn left on the road that guides from the junction down to Haraki, towards the hill with the imposing figure of Feraklos Castle.

The pure golden sand is the main attraction here. The sea waters are crystal clear but can be a bit of a swell while the beach is smallish and can get crowded. You will find a couple of small tavernas with good food, sun loungers and umbrellas for hire. At the northern end of the beach there is a cave, ideal to spend a night by the fire.
