This year’s summer bank holiday has been moved on Monday, August 30 in England and Wales and on Monday, August 2 in Scotland. Bank holidays are a public holidays in both the United Kingdom and Ireland. Although there is no automatic right to time off on these days, the majority of the population not employed in essential services receive them as holidays; When the usual date of a bank or public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, a substitute day is given, normally the following Monday.
