Rhodes Fire Department announced that they’ve contained a large wildfire on the island which burned an estimated 1.500 hectares (3.700 acres) over the past two days. Police said a 55-year-old farmer was arrested on the island, accused of starting the fire by accident when he burned weeds and dried plants on his property. Firefighters had been hampered by strong winds, which finally eased today.
