People travelling to Rhodes have a legitimate concern about their safety after the protests that made headlines in all the media around the world. Yesterday’s general strike and the disorders that followed were confined in down center of Athens and Thessaloniki. They mainly involved a small minory of left extremists and immigrants, the main body of the protesters paraded peacefully against the austeruty measures. People in Greece is angry against the local political class, for their incapacity, corruption and excessive goverment spending. In Rhodes however, the situation is very different. Most people didn’t even participate in the strike and there were more than 30 charter plane arrivals yesterday. Rhodes is, as always, a calm and peaceful travel destination, full of beauty and sunshine.
