Unprecedented gold and jewel heist

In an unprecedented jewel heist, burglars steal almost 400.000 euros of valuables in incidents that took place on two different jewelry shops on Rhodes, in less than 24 hours. The first break-in took place on Thursday afternoon when the owner of the store popped out and forgot to pull down the metal shutters and activate the shop’s alarm system. The value of the items stolen was estimated at 183.000 euros. The second robbery occurred early yesterday when robbers broke into a jewelry store with no alarm system. They made off with valuables worth some 200.000 euros. Police sources could not confirm whether the two raids were linked.
