Municipality of Kamiros

The Municipality of Kamiros (postal code 85106) derives its name from the ancient town. It extends over a territory of 211.875 km², on the south-western part of the island of Rhodes with a total population of 5.145 inhabitants. The village of Soroni (pop. 1.232) located 25km from island’s capital Rhodes, is the seat of the Municipality that includes the following villages: Apollona (pop. 997), Dimylia (pop. 515), Fanes (pop. 895), Kalavarda (pop. 512), Platania (pop. 383) and Salakos (pop. 607). Main income resources come from agriculture (grapes, wine, olive oil and citrus fruits), and tourism.
